The goal of this first task of the semester is to design a ‘room’ specifically conceived for the appreciation of a media of your choice – a book, a movie, photography, a performance, music, interactive arts, etc. Students will design a media room as a test for the design of the full library later in the semester, using the method of ‘design probe’. The main goal is to explore the role of light in space making. Students will define the relationship between the envelope of the media room, the way it controls light due to its material and the way it is built, and how this light conditions the use of the interior space.
