기존 건물에 새로운 주거 유닛을 포개어 자연스럽게 형성되는 틈새 공간을 활용하는 방향으로 프로젝트가 진행되었다. The focus of the project was to utilize the gaps created by overlapping new housing units onto the existing buildings. 주거 유닛을 3가지 만든 후 기존 건물의 배치에 따라 적용을 달리하였다. 아래는 각 유닛에 대한 설명이다. 3 housing units were made and applied base on the placement of the existings. Followings are the description of each units.

유닛_1 2(±1)인을 위한 주거이며, 공간 전체가 현관을 제외하면 분리가 되지 않고 하나로 이루어져 있다. 기존 건물이 일자로 정렬된 배치를 가질 때에 적용한다. Unit_1 Housing for 2(±1) people, and aside from the entrance, the space is continuous without partitions. Applied where the existing buildings are aligned.

유닛_2 4(±1)인을 위한 주거이며, 침실이 거실에 비해 반 층 낮게 배치되어 있어 보다 사생활이 강조된다. 반지하 건물과 일반 건물이 만나는 지점에 적용한다. Unit_2 Housing for 4(±1) people, and bedroom is half story below LDK making it more private. Applied where semi-basement building and standard one meet.

유닛_3 4(±1)인을 위한 주거이며, 매스 자체의 형태에 의해 공간이 분리된다. 기존 건물의 평면 상 배치가 어긋나 있을 때에 적용한다. Unit_3 Housing for 4(±1) people, and space parted by the form of mass itself. Applied where the existing buildings are not aligned.

위와 같은 원리를 사이트 전체로 확장한 것이다. 섬세한 시공을 요구하며 주거는 2층부터 배치되기에, 기존 건물 중 지나치게 오래되거나 낮은 건물을 활용하기에는 부적합하다고 판단하였다. 이는 보존할 건물을 결정하는 기준이 된다. Application from above extended to the entire site. Requires sophisticated construction and housing starts from the 2nd floor, therefore among the existing, the ones overly low or old weren't appropriate to use. Giving guidelines on selecting buildings to preserve.
