세운, 장벽을 넘어 무대로 / Sewoon, from passage to urban stage Sewoon Stage : Adding Diversity to Continuity 본 프로젝트는 세운상가라는 장벽 속에서 기존 도시 조직을 잇는 유일한 틈을 발견하고, 그곳에 잠재된 연속성의 가치에 주목하여 이를 단순한 통로가 아닌 ‘입체적 연결’로 재해석하였다. 단순한 물리적 연속성(Continuity)만 존재하던 이곳에 ‘무대(Stage)’라는 개념을 도입하여, 방문객들의 능동적인 교류와 행위가 채워지는 경험의 다양성(Diversity)을 부여하고자 한다. 다양한 높이와 볼륨의 층들, 그리고 이를 연결하는 계단과 같은 건축적 장치들은 사람들이 다층적인 레이어(Layer) 속에서 서로를 바라보고 또 보이게 함으로써 단순한 보행자를 공간의 주체인 ‘배우’이자 ‘관객’으로 전환시킨다. 결과적으로 이 공간은 별도의 프로그램 없이 건축적 개입과 사람들의 상호작용만으로 시각적·행위적 다양성이 발생하는 도시의 무대가 되며, 그곳에 축적되는 행위와 순간들을 통해 유일하게 남은 동서 방향의 연결된 도시 조직을 기억할 것이다. This project identifies a unique gap within the barrier of Sewoon Sangga that connects the existing urban fabric. Focusing on the value of its latent continuity, the project reinterprets this space not merely as a passageway but as a ‘Three-Dimensional Connection.’ By introducing the concept of a ‘Stage’ to a site that previously possessed only physical Continuity, the design aims to instill Experiential Diversity, enriched by the active interactions and movements of its visitors. Architectural elements—ranging from varying heights and volumes to connecting staircases—enable people to observe and be observed across multi-layered levels. This transforms mere pedestrians into the protagonists of the space: acting as both ‘Actors’ and ‘Audience.’ Ultimately, without the need for imposed programs, this space evolves into an Urban Theater where visual and behavioral diversity emerge solely through architectural intervention and human interaction. Through the accumulation of these acts and moments, the space will preserve the memory of the sole remaining east-west connection of the urban fabric.
