[Site explanation] · Site is located between Gyeongbokgung Palace, Songhyeon-dong site, and MMCA, and consists of urban SITE A and SITE B on Songhyeon-dong site. · Site는 경복궁과, 송현동 부지, MMCA 사이에 위치하며, 도심지 SITE A와 송현동 부지 위 SITE B로 구성된다.

[Concept Diagram]

· There is a strong context called Gyeongbokgung Palace and MMCA near the site. Before the opening of the Songhyeon-dong site, people approached below Gyeongbokgung Palace and above the MMCA through public transportation and walking. After the opening of the Songhyeon-dong site, people move past the Songhyeon-dong site and through Gyeongbokgung Palace and the MMCA. After that, Lee Kun-hee Museum of Art will be built on the right side of the Songhyeon-dong site. If Lee Kun-hee Museum of Art is built, Site is located between Gyeongbokgung Palace, MMCA, and LEE'S Museum, and I thought Site was a point where three strong contexts could be woven. As a program called "Library," people with different characteristics want to flow in, mix with each other, and leak again. · Site 부근에는 경복궁과 MMCA라는 강한 Context가 존재한다. 송현동 부지 개방 전, 사람들은 대중교통과 도보를 통해 경복궁 아래와 MMCA 위쪽으로 접근하였다. 송현동 부지 개방 후, 사람들은 송현동 부지를 지나쳐 경복궁과 MMCA를 이동하게 된다. 이후, 이건희 미술관이 송현동 부지 우측부에 들어설 예정이다. 이건희 미술관이 들어선다면 Site는 경복궁, MMCA, LEE'S Museum 사이에 위치하는 존재이며, 3개의 강한 Context가 엮일 수 있는 지점으로 생각하였다. '도서관'이라는 프로그램으로서 서로 다른 특성을 지닌 사람들이 유입되고 서로 섞이며, 다시 유출되길 원한다.

[Mass Diagram]

· Mass is divided into 'existing' and 'new'. The existing mass is a "special program library" visited by people who feel "supplemental knowledge" before or after the use of Gyeongbokgung Palace, the MMCA, and the LEE's museum. The new mass is the 'expansion of Songhyeon-dong', a 'public library' that can be used and supplied by ordinary citizens. The existing mass is divided into two to form a 'vertical bookshelf'. Imagine using a 'book' in a library. The category I want went looking for a book, but I wouldn't want it if it was a mix of books from various categories. It was thought that various 'supplementation of knowledge' such as 'books, videos, and exhibitions' could be made within a specific category, and it was intended to separate the mass according to its characteristics. After that, different masses are connected to each other, and I can go out to different points as "specificity" and "publicity" are mixed with each other. * Expanding buildings are connected based on grid spacing of existing buildings · 매스는 '기존의 것'과 '새로운 것'으로 구분된다. 기존 매스는 경복궁, MMCA, LEE'S museum의 이용 전 혹은 이용 후 '지식의 보충'을 느끼는 사람들이 방문하는 '특별 프로그램의 도서관'이다. 새로운 매스는 '송현동의 확장'으로, 일반 시민들이 이용하고 공급될 수 있는 '공공 도서관'이다. 기존 매스는 2개로 분할되어 '수직적 책장'을 형성한다. 도서관에서 '서고'를 이용한다고 상상해보자. 내가 원하는 카테고리는 도서를 찾으러 갔는데, 다양한 카테고리의 책들이 섞여있으면 원치 않을 것이다. 특정 카테고리 안에서 '도서, 영상, 전시'등의 다양한 '지식의 보충'이 이루어질 수 있다고 생각했고, 특성에 따라 매스를 분리하고자 하였다. 이후 서로 다른 매스는 연결되며, '특별성'과 '공공성'이 엮여 서로 다른 지점으로 연결된다. * 확장되는 건물은 기존 건물의 Grid 간격을 바탕으로 확장

[Plan] · The leftmost library building facing Gyeongbokgung Palace is 'Heritage', The central building adjacent to the MMCA and Lee's Museum is "Museum", Public Library, which represents publicity, consists of programs such as 'Children, General Material' and 'Cafe'. · 경복궁과 마주하는 가장 좌측 도서관 건물은 “Heritage”, MMCA와 Lee's Museum의 접점에 있는 중앙 건물은 “Museum”, 공공성을 대표하는 Public Library는 “Children, General Material” 과 'Cafe' 등의 프로그램으로 구성된다.
