이번 annex project라는 주제를 접했을 때, annex는 기존 건물에 부속적으로 설치되는 건물인데, 이는 기존 건물에서는 충족되어지지 못한 기능을 채우기 위한 것이라고 생각했다. 따라서 분명 채워져야 하는 기능을 요구하는 Client가 존재할 것이고, 나는 Client의 입장에서 annex에 접근했다. Dominus winery의 Client는 Wine-Making을 농업의 가장 높은 형태라고 생각하였고, 포도밭을 굉장히 사랑하는 사람이었다. 대표사진에서 보이는 것처럼 기존 winery 건물이 옆으로 굉장히 긴 직사각형 형태로 존재하는 것도 포도밭을 최대한 헤치지 않기 위해서 이다. 따라서 아무리 드넓은 포도밭의 site이지만, 포도밭의 일부분을 덜어내고 annex를 그곳에 설치하는 것은 Client가 원하는 방향이 아니라고 생각했다. annex의 주 용도는 전망대겸 레스토랑으로 설정하였다. Dominus winery는 꽤 고가의 와인 브랜드이고, 관광을 원하는 소비자들이 예약을 통하여 관광을 진행할 수 있다. 이 장소에 올 정도로 와인에 애정이 있는 소비자는 관광을 왔을 때 분명 와인을 즐기고 싶다는 생각이 들 것이다. Dominus측에서는 오크 창고에 간단하게 시음할 수 있는 공간을 마련해뒀지만, 이는 간단한 시음 정도이지 와인을 진정으로 즐길 수 없다고 생각한다. 나는 와인을 음식과 즐길 때 그 맛이 더 잘 느껴지고, 가치가 높아진다고 생각한다. 또한, 와인의 특성에 따라 어울리는 음식이 달라지는데, Dominus 측에서 자신의 와인과 가장 잘 어울리는 음식을 제공한다면 브랜드 가치를 더욱 높일 수 있을 것이다. 관광 또한 예약제로 운영되기에 이윤을 목적으로 제공하는 장소가 아니라, 자신의 브랜드의 높은 소비자들을 위한 장소이기에 10-20명 정도를 수용할 수 있는 식당의 규모이다. 따라서 annex는 광활한 밭 따라 걸을 수 있고, 포도밭을 보면서 음식과 와인을 간단하게 즐기는 공간이다. 다음으로, 나의 Annex에는 2가지 개념이 적용되게 된다. 첫째, Chateau의 개념이다. Chateau는 흔히 우리가 상상할 수 있는 거대한 성을 나타낸다. Herezog & de Meron은 Dominus Winery에 Chateau의 개념을 수평적으로 해석하여 형상화하였다. 이는 앞서 언급했던 Winery 건물이 수평적이고 긴 형태를 나타내는 이유 중 하나이다. 하지만 나는 별도의 설명 없이는 기존 건물에서 Chateau의 개념을 느끼기에 어려움이 존재한다고 생각하였다. 부수적으로 설치 되는 Annex가 이러한 Chateau의 개념을 더 극대화 해주는 것 또한 기존에 부족했던 기능을 채워 준다고 생각한다. 또한 성을 떠올리면 수직적으로 웅장한 느낌이 들지만, 기존 건물에서는 이 개념을 수평적으로 풀어냈기에 annex에서도 수평적으로 풀어내는 것이 맞다고 판단하였다. 따라서 나는 Main path 옆쪽에 annex를 설치함으로서 길을 따라 걸을 때 마치 성곽을 걷는다는 느낌을 받을 수 있도록 하였다. 앞서 언급했던 이유와 함께 건물은 자연스럽게 2층 높이에 위치하게 된다.

둘째, Gavions System의 개념이다. Dominus Winery 건물은 Gavions System으로 유명한데, 이는 Cage 안에 돌이 담겨있고 빛과 바람 같은 자연적 요소가 통할 수 있는 요소이다. 하지만 나는 이 gavion 자체를 annex에 사용하는 것은 옳지 않다고 생각한다. 왜냐하면 본 건물에서는 와인 숙성에 있어 기능적인 역할을 하고 있는데, annex에 설치했지만 본 건물에서 처럼 기능적인 역할을 해내지 못 한다면 이는 그저 장식에 불과할 것이다. 따라서 나는 이 개념을 Grid System으로 풀어냈다. Grid System은 격자 형태로, 기존의 gavion 처럼 빛과 바람이 통할 수 있다. 또한, Winery 건물을 멀리서 보면 마치 벽돌로 지은 건물 처럼 꽉 막힌 건물로 보이지만, 실질적으로는 빛과 바람이 통하고 돌의 틈 사이로 밖을 엿볼 수 있다. Grid system 또한 멀리서 보면 형태적으로는 막혀 보이지만 실질적으로는 뚫려있는 요소이다. 더불어, Winery에서 사용 되는 Gavions System은 기능에 따라 돌의 크기와 철망의 간격이 달라지는데, Grid System에서는 기능에 따라 격자의 간격을 다르게 함으로써 기존의 기능을 녹여냈다.

This is the thickness of the wood grid that can function as a structure, and it is a figure that can secure an open eye considering its thickness. The wooden pillar, located in the center, naturally divides the movement line left and right, and a bench is placed in the middle of the 8m gap, where you can sit for a while and then go. [C] An indirect encounter with nature This space is where you can enjoy the scenery while eating food that best matches the wine of dominus estate. In this space, the width of 1320 x 1320 (mm) is changed, unlike the previously proposed grid spacing. This interval reduces the interference of the gaze and is a figure that does not interfere with the structural role of the grid system. The wider gap allows you to savor the scenery with food. However, enjoying food in this space is not an essential but an optional factor. If you don't want to enjoy food, you can sit in your seat and savor the scenery. [D] An inner and outer terminus This is a space where people who have completed their internal experience can go outside and enter people who have experienced the outside. At this point, each experience is completed as if it were the last stop of the train, but it is also the starting point for the new experience. External and internal experiences are converted, respectively. The elevator allows you to move outdoors and indoors, and the movement of gaze through the elevator will be remembered as a new experience in life. Also, you can enjoy a wider view from the back of the elevator or use it as a photo zone. [E] A direct encounter with nature As you walk along the main path, you can experience the previously presented shaped chatau directly. In addition, a vast and overwhelming vineyard of 4,100 (m2) can be seen and felt directly in front of the eye.
