This studio takes 'Adaptive Reuse' as its central architectural proposition within the urban context of Seoul. Adaptive reuse involves the repurposing of existing buildings for new uses — retaining their material fabric, cultural memory, and historical significance while accommodating contemporary needs. Rather than replacing what exists, this approach works with it: reducing the environmental cost of new construction while reinforcing the layered character of the city. The studio treats adaptive reuse not simply as a sustainable strategy, but as a design challenge that demands careful negotiation between old and new.
