Pecha Kucha: Urban Analysis, Building Research

Architectural Design III operates from the premise that sites are not fixed, pre-existing conditions that simply receive buildings. Instead, sites are actively construed through the process of design itself. Architecture does not merely respond to a site — it participates in defining it. As a result, 'site' and 'context' cannot be taken for granted; they must be continually interpreted and given meaning. To construe a site is to make sense of what already exists by assigning architectural significance to it. In the first task of the semester, student teams will research and analyze an assigned building and its context, presenting their findings in Pecha Kucha format. Note: Only one member per team is responsible for compiling and uploading the Pecha Kucha slides.
