Nodeul Island and the Hangang Bridge are a core part of Seoul’s history, and they sit in the centre of this spine of Seoul .Despite its central location and historical significance, the Hangang Daegyo, its bridge merely serves as a utilitarian crossing, creating a gap within the central spine of Seoul along with fragmented green spaces surrounding it.
In response to this, the strategy aims to strengthen this spine by designing a crossing with curated, varied experiences for the people travelling through it to better integrate the northern side of the river lined with cultural heritage icons and the south populated with residences and institutions.
